4-Piece Metal Sockets

These sockets are assembled from 4 pieces, the cap, shell, interior (the piece with the wire attachments) and a ring that screws the cap to the shell for a very secure and stable socket. These are made of heavy brass, which is then polished or coated with a black, nickel, or bronze finish. This is our heaviest socket at 3.2 ounces for the keyless version.

3-Piece Metal Sockets

These sockets are assembled from 3 pieces, the cap, shell, and interior (the piece with the wire attachments). These are made of brass, which is then polished for the brass finish or coated for a black or nickel finish. This socket is medium-weight at 1.5 ounces for the keyless version. The housing and cap are secured by fitting the crimped housing firmly into the cap.

Side-Exit Sockets

A side-exit socket is for use with a lamp base that has no opening through which the wire can exit. The opening for the wire to exit is on the side of the cap.

1/4 IPS Sockets

Most sockets have a standard-sized opening in their cap. That standard size is called 1/8 IPS and accommodates wires to just under 3/8" in diameter. (IPS stands for internal pipe size.) The 1/4 IPS sockets have a larger opening, accommodating wire up to 1/2" in diameter.
